ABOUT THE CITY・かしわらのこと
大阪の都心部から約20キロほどの距離に位置する柏原市（かしわらし）は、昭和３３年（１９５８年）大阪府で２５番目の市として中河内地域に位置する市。
歴史は古く、3万年ほど前の後期旧石器時代にまでさかのぼり戦国時代後期には織田、豊臣氏の支配下となり、徳川政権下の江戸時代になると、戦争時には大坂の前衛地となる事から、重要な拠点として天領となり、幕府の支配下に置かれ大坂の陣では奈良街道から亀の瀬を経て、現在の国分あたりに進出してきた徳川方と後藤基次が先頭に立つ大坂方が道明寺の戦いで激突した。宝永元（1704）年に大和川の付替え工事が竣工した以後から、旧川筋などで新田開発が始まりました。
地域では日本でも有数の古墳の密集地でや遺跡も多く、市内にある横穴墓（高井田横穴群、玉手山横穴群の2箇所）は大阪府内では、現在柏原市でしか発見されていない。大和川と石川の合流点を中心とする一帯は、明治時代より柏原ぶどうの生産地、そして日本で有数の国内ワイン生産地としても知られております。
Kashiwara is located in Osaka prefecture close to the prefectural border of Nara. Kashiwara was one of many small towns and villages in the east of the Kawachi region. Over a period of time Kashiwara abosrbed Katashimo town, and Katakami Village in 1939 and the larger Kokubu area in 1956. As a result, in 1958 Kashiwara was recognized as an official city in Osaka Prefecture.
